Role 2: Public Relations Officer
- Your job is to deal with the public.
- You will need to develop a poll to give to your peers, other districts, and adults who have read the witness statement (the novel) to help determine guilt.
- You will need to develop questions and conduct an interview with someone who lived during the time period in order to help the D.A. understand the atmosphere (mood) of the setting.
- You will need to organize the data from your polls and answers to your questions in a visually appealing way so that it is easy to include the information in your presentation.
- You will be responsible for presenting an equal amount of time to the D.A. and her associates.
Follow the Steps Below to Complete Your Project
Step 1:
Develop a pole to give to your peers, students in other districts, and adults who have read the witness statement to determine guilt. Use the Online Survey Maker link to make the surveys so that it is easy to share with everyone involved. Your questions are NOT supposed to test the poll-taker's knowledge, but to ask their opinion of their guilt. Some example questions are listed below:
- Out of the following, who do you think is responsible for Johnny's death?
- Out of the two options, society or humans, which is more responsible for Dally's death?
Step 2:
Send out the surveys and collect the data from the answers. Organize the data from the polls into a visually appealing way so that it is easy to put into your final product. Use bar graphs, pie charts, and other visual tools to help the D.A. and her associates better read and understand the results. You are making a ROUGH DRAFT that will be organized into a final product.
Step 3:
Develop questions to interview someone who lived during the 1950's. If you can find someone who is from an urban (city) area, he/she would give a better representation of city life during the 1950's. Use the link "Interview Helps" below to help you develop your interview questions.
Step 4:
Conduct the interview and record the answers. Organize the questions and answers into a visually appealing way so that it is easy to put into your final product. Use pictures, graphs, graphics, and other visual tools to help the D.A. and her associates better read and understand the results. You are making a ROUGH DRAFT that will be organized into a final product.
Step 5:
Help your technology expert organize your information into the final product.
Step 6:
Complete the self-evaluation by grading your final product using the rubric. Make sure you give REASONS why you score each section the way you score it!
Step 7:
Discuss with the group where you marked your presentation down and why. Discuss what you can do to improve your presentation. Revise your presentation to improve your score.
Step 8:
Present for an equal amount of time to the D.A. and her associates.
