Role Description
Role 1: Paralegal
- Your job is to help the D.A. in interpreting the law and providing a case against the guilty parties.
- You will need to research the specific laws that are broken and determine all crimes that are committed (even those that you don't wish to prosecute).
- You will need to organize the laws and the crimes committed into a visually appealing way so that it is easy to include the information in your presentation.
- You will be responsible for presenting an equal amount of time to the D.A. and her associates.
Follow the Steps Below to Complete Your Project
Step 1:
Make a list of ALL crimes committed in the witness statement (the novel). Even if you don't want to prosecute the person who committed the crime.
Step 2:
Research the specific laws that pertain to the crimes that have been committed. Write them down next to the crimes on the list that you have constructed. Use the helpful links below to complete this task.

Step 3:
Organize your laws and crimes committed (include the person, persons, group, or entity that committed the crimes, the laws broken, and a short description of how the crime was committed based on the witness statement) into a visually appealing way that will be easy to place into your group's electronic visual presentation. Use pictures, graphs, graphics, and other visual tools to help the D.A. and her associates better read and understand the results. You are making a ROUGH DRAFT that will be organized into a final product.
Step 4:
Help your technology expert organize your information into the final product.
Step 5:
Complete the self-evaluation by individually grading your final product using the rubric. Make sure you give REASONS why you score each section the way you score it!
Step 6:
Discuss with the group where you marked your presentation down and why. Discuss what you can do to improve your presentation. Revise your presentation to improve your score.
Step 7
Present for an equal amount of time to the D.A. and her associates.
